Matt and Annabelle Ranck are about two of the coolest people I have ever met. First, they were kind enough to be the second show of the season for the Jeze-Belle Coffeehouse Concert Series. They put on a fantastic show; Annabelle has great stage presence and Matt is completely adorable. This husband and wife team along with their cohort, Don, are worth checking out if you get the opportunity. These people are friends -- on and off the stage -- there's something to be said for friendships such as this. Something like YOU GUYS ROCK UP AND DOWN! Matt and Annabelle are in it for the music. In addition to performing their own shows, they showcase other artist with their house concert series. Artists who have performed there include David Childers, Greg Trooper and most recently, one of the seemingly kindest artist I have ever met: Chuck Brodsky. Chuck, please take this as a compliment: you remind me of one of my dearest friends in the world: DJ. DJ is not only gifted, he is genuine. You share these attributes, my friend. So, thanks to Matt and Annabelle for two wonderful nights: a night at Jeze-Belles in Newberry and a night at their home with Chuck Brodsky and his lovely wife, Jenny. Click on picture of Chuck Brodsky below to be re-directed to his web site and then, go see him live and in concert. You'll leave with a better understanding of the simple beauty found in stories; sung with eloquence and honesty. That's not a halo over Chuck's head, but after hearing, "The Man Who Blew Kisses," it certainly could be a halo. This song and the story behind it brought tears to my eyes. Sometimes we never understand a miracle; Chuck understood this one. The lyric(s) to "The Man Who Blew Kisses" ... The Man Who Blew Kisses The man who blew kisses stood out in the crowd He wasn't so tall & he wasn't loud I couldn't tell you how he was dressed But of everyone there I remember him best The man who blew kisses was simple & free He never considered how people might see him He walked on the water & swam through the air No trepidation & without a care The man who blew kisses lives in a home He isn't allowed to go out on his own Wherever they take him he's happy to go He loves everybody & lets them all know The man who blew kisses, blew them at me It tickled my heart & it buckled my knee It made my voice crack & it righted all wrongs I blew kisses back at the end of the songs The man who blew kisses in front of the stage Knew nothing of jealousy, nothing of rage Nothing of prejudice, nothing of shame He'd never been broken, never been tamed The man who blew kisses, he misses some things But he was catching my drift, he had air in his wings His head was a' rocking, he was clapping his hands He was stomping his feet, he was doing a dance The man who blew kisses eats tulips for lunch And probably rainbows but that's just a hunch Sunshine & pixie dust mixed in his punch Daisies for breakfast he eats by the bunch The man who blew kisses will blow them at you He blows them at anyone, no matter who And I thought to myself in the middle of all this That the song I was singing was but a kiss Chuck Brodsky Matt always has this sparkle in his eyes. The man is a complete joy. Chuck genuinely listens ... another gift that seems to come quite naturally to him. "Death Row All-Stars" has a little pickin' and a lot of story. This one is kind like a materpiece in my book and I'm not even big into sports. Chuck and Jenny Brodsky, you make a wonderful couple. Thanks for sharing the love and next time, let's all take a gum break! Jenny, I'll see you soon. Again, interacting with interest ... Thanks for the memory. Always good food, good friends and good times at Matt and Annabelle's ... You look all hollywood, my friend. Great skin, great face ... Everyone always ends up in the kitchen, regardless of the event. :) Annabelle and her friends put out some beautiful harmonies. You rock, Annabelle, and are completly cool. I'll hang out with you anytime! Below are some shots taken mid-October of DAM Combo at Jeze-Belles in Newberry. Thanks to DAM Combo for sharing the night with us and being one of the performers for the coffee house concert series! Your stories were wonderful; your performance was completely entertaining as is your gift for story telling with humor combined with compassion. I've got the mill on my mind ... Getting into it ... An appreciative audience for DAM Combo. Sherry was really digging the music ... and that's saying something! Foster Busby ... more than the sound tech ... he's one of the most appreciative audience members in any setting!
